New K2 Advisory research: “Digital Workplace Choices: Preparing for the 2020 workplace”

K2 Advisory has just launched the latest study from its core research programme, entitled: “Digital Workplace Choices: Preparing for the 2020 Workplace”. This report is part of the K2 Advisory Research Forum, a club for C-level leaders who either sign-off or significantly influence IT investment decisions.

Overview
The role of the IT department has for the past number of years been largely centred around serving considerable numbers of staff through enterprise desktop services – where the emphasis is on standardisation and reducing total cost of ownership. In this context the term “Personal Computer” has become something of an irony given how ‘unpersonal’ company-owned kit has become to specific individual requirements.

However, within a relatively short space of time a number of rapidly evolving trends have emerged, which are putting new demands on the IT department and challenging the established approach. These trends do not apply to every organisation in the same way, but there is no organisation that is completely immune to them. The way all of us work is changing – and it is changing fast – from the tools used in the workplace (from hardware to social media) through to new working practices (e.g. home working).

In this phase of change, there are many users who do not have the optimum tools for their job, and there are many organisations operating without the most appropriate business and IT policies in place. The result is that some staff are breaking business conduct guidelines, productivity is being restricted, and employers find themselves facing challenges around security, brand damage and impaired staff morale.

What is in the document?

  • K2 Advisory scenarios for organisational investment options
  • Findings from quantitative research across 260 HR and marketing decision makers
  • Market trends and drivers
  • Analysis based on interviews across C-level decision makers
  • Implications for the UK Public Sector

As with all K2 Advisory research, we do not simply want you to read it and file it! We want your views and your feedback. And we invite you to join us face-to-face, along with your C-level peers, to discuss your challenges and observations in more depth.
